About Us
Meet the founders behind Somatic Botanicals
Our Story
Martin and James first crossed paths at the university clinic in Lincoln in 2016—Martin on the Herbal Medicine programme, bringing forth his personal background in Druidic tradition; James on the Acupuncture degree programme, having recently returned to the UK from his stay in a Daoist temple in China. Though trained in different systems, they found common ground through shared values: a belief in nature as teacher, the body as one whole being, and health as something they can only guide their clients toward. Over time, their friendship deepened through quiet practice, long conversations, and a mutual reverence for the core principles that run throughout healing work. Years later, life handed them the unexpected opportunity to co-steward a clinical space—one they have since shaped into a grounded, therapeutic sanctuary.
What began as conversations over tea and theory evolved into a grounded practice of care. In time, through what they often call a “beautiful accident,” they found themselves joint stewards of a business. Nurtured not by ambition but by intention, Somatic Botanicals has become their sanctuary—a place where Martin supports men’s health through massage and naturopathy, and James offers Somatic Therapies, Acupuncture, and psychotherapeutic treatments for all bodies and backgrounds.
