Somatic Biomechanics
Moving Beyond TraumaUnderstanding Somatic Biomechanics
Somatic Biomechanics is a trauma-informed, body-based therapeutic system developed by James through years of hands-on experience and client work. It recognises that the body stores trauma through habitual posture and movement patterns—compensations that once helped us cope, but now may limit us physically and emotionally. These old strategies get ‘stuck’, keeping stress and pain locked in. This approach gently unwinds those habits using movement re-education, breathwork, somatic enquiry and therapeutic discussion, helping the body release what it’s been holding—without needing to relive the original trauma.
